Lake Tahoe is a masterpiece of nature and most locals can tell you just how it was created. In a nutshell, the Tahoe Basin was formed about five to ten million years ago by the rising and falling of the land due to the shifting of geologic faults.

Tremendous forces began the western tilt of the Sierra Nevada block. As a result, two principal parallel faults developed. The eastern margin created the Carson Range and the western margin created the Sierra Nevada. The up-thrown fault blocks created the highest peaks in the region. The down-thrown fault blocks sank to create a deep v-shaped valley, now called the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Later, about two million years ago, volcanic activity followed and played a key role in further reshaping the landscape of the region. Lava flowing from Mt. Pluto formed a barrier across the Basin's northeastern outlet, creating a natural dam across Lake Tahoe's original outlet, the Truckee River. Water from the snowfall and streams gradually filled the Lake Tahoe Basin, over 600 feet higher than its present lake level! Eventually, a new outlet eroded through the northeastern lava dam, creating the present path of the Lower Truckee River, the only outlet of the lake.

Then an Ice Age developed and huge glaciers grew in the surrounding mountains and gradually moved down the v-shaped canyons on the western side of the lake. The glaciers scoured away loose rock and reshaped the canyons into the broad, u-shaped valleys of Emerald Bay, Fallen Leaf Lake and Cascade Lake.

Today, the highest point in the Tahoe Basin is Freel Peak at 10,881 feet. The deepest part of Lake Tahoe is near Crystal Bay, measuring a water depth of 1,645 feet.

We seek to service mainly corporate, church and family reunion groups who might otherwise not have a place to stay and gather conveniently and affordably. We keep the per/person price below the norm, not even considering extra quality and amenities, exclusive control of the property, and large gathering areas.  Facilities: All of our properties are in South Lake Tahoe and while all properties are not fully realized, they will eventually meet a particular standard. All will have land (preferably at least one acre), with lawns and park-like landscaping, rock paths, streams and ponds, and adequate paved parking. They will be rebuilt to high quality in "lodge style". They will be furnished with quality mountain lodge furniture (pine, carved pine, hickory, log, or "arts & crafts" oak), oriental carpets, hooked or braided rugs, original art and oil paintings, stained glass lamps and vintage light fixtures, hand made quilts, antiques and bronzes, 8' screen surround sound dvd projection theaters, pool tables, Jacuzzi bathtubs, hot tubs, landscaping, recreation areas & equipment, brick patios, gas bbq's (with hickory provided), paved parking, privacy fencing, maple (or oak) kitchens with double appliances, pine (or oak) interior panel doors, lodge pole and pine trim, casual mountain atmosphere -- and everything else we can think of to convey extra caring and effort for our guests to give them a truly "Mountain Home". We include everything we would want or need if we were home: corkscrews, large pots, a milkshake maker, matching dishes and silver, quality utensils, a tea cozy, big towels, thick comforters, unique objects, art books, etc., but also kid and pet-friendly. In other words -- it's "ALMOST HOME". (Currently Mountain Home, Ponderosa House and Manzanita Lodge approach this ideal).  Company Goals and Vision: We have a vision for the improvement of the Hwy 89 corridor as among the last places in South Lake Tahoe where there is an "old Tahoe" feel, a combination of nature and less dense development. And we hope to be a part of the improvement of South Lake Tahoe long into the future. We believe Tahoe is unique, and we seek to create environments that reflect the mountain lifestyle and flavor. Our company goals are: 1) To fill a nitch market for Church Groups, Business and Corporate Groups, and Family Gathering Groups with properties especially designed for their needs; 2) To provide unique, comfortable, and affordable facilities for events, seminars, gatherings, and celebrations that are complete and well designed, well stocked, and well cared for; 3) For all our guests to know they are in Tahoe, (not in San Diego) when they're inside our places; and 4) To engender loyalty, repeat clients, and referrals by putting more money into quality, service, extra details and attention -- resulting in our customers being our best advertising investment -- our best promotional assets. Commitment to Serve: We do not see our facilities solely as a business, but also as an opportunity to serve the South Lake Tahoe area. We provide a place for visiting church groups when not booked, and places for community meetings, clubs and events. For other rental agencies, large groups are awkward. They are often placed in multiple condos or houses, not always close together. They have impact on the residential neighbors and parking, and never have enough room to gather in one place. With our properties they can gather in a home-like and functional facility, without disturbing anyone. It's a casual alternative to commercial event rooms and isolated hotel rooms -- and everyone can stay together. Some properties are designed for more privacy and separation, for slightly more money; others are more suited for groups that want to be together, and are more affordable.
